From Reactive to Responsive: How Meditation and Mindfulness Change Everything

In my last video, I shared why mindfulness is the most important slice of my Wheel of Healing and Vitality. But what actually IS a meditation practice?

Let me break it down simply:

Meditation is dedicating time - starting with as little as a minute or two- to tune in and turn inward. It's a way of training your mind and yourself where you get to know yourself from the inside out. This can be done in the morning, at lunchtime, in the evening, whenever works for you.

Mindfulness is bringing that same intention and awareness throughout your entire day. It's about creating space between you and your thoughts, understanding that you ARE something beyond those thoughts.

When you can create even a second of space between you and your mental chatter, everything shifts. That slowing down, that spaciousness - it helps you make better decisions, gain clarity, receive insights and inspiration.

Here's how I know this practice is essential: I notice what happens when I let it slide. I'll be feeling good, thinking 'I'll focus on other parts of my life and my health right now.' But within days? Anxiety builds. Tension creeps in. I'm more reactive, more distracted.

Life will always throw things at you. The difference is how you show up. A consistent mindfulness practice helps you respond instead of react. It helps you relax when your first impulse is to tense up. That shift alone changes everything.

And here's the beautiful part - when you do fall off the practice (because we all do), you don't beat yourself up. Remember that loving kindness at the center of the wheel? You simply come back when you can. You trust in the seeds you've planted and keep tending that inner garden.

Today's vitality check-in: What would it look like to (or what does it look like when you) create just one moment of space between you and your thoughts today? 🧘‍♀️

How do you notice the difference when you're consistent with mindfulness versus when you're not?"
